I am new to dyeing. I am a knifemaker. I have recently found a good source of inexpensive camel bone. I have searched the forum and havent found any post reguarding the dyeing of bone, so sorry if this is a duplicated question.

I have been using minwax wood stain to dye the bone and it has been working well. However I want to have a wider array of colors than brown and black tones. So I have started looking for alternative methods and dyes.

My question is:
What dyes and methods would an experienced artisan use to dye bone?

I have read that acid dyes are used on natural mediums such as cotton and wool. Would it also work on bone, or is there another type of dye that would work better?

Thank you for your help in advance.
