Hi everyone, i bought what looked like a burnt orange coat off ebay, it is BRIGHT construction cone orange!!! And Cashmere, I love the coat, too expensive to never wear it, can someone please tell me how to dye this thing? i am hoping to end up with a deep brownish green color, or even a reddish brown color. I need step by step directions, and what colors to use...

Hey Sally,

You can't get the green easily without stripping the color. The red orange is totally possible. I would use crimson acid dye # 619 for deep red orange, or russet # 6161 for a more brownish red-orange. Your coat will most likely need at least2 .5 oz bottles of dye. Maybe 3 if you do it in the washing machine, which you might have to. The other way to do it is use cherry red 617 and brown 635 that would work too.

The link theengel posted is a great resource.

The washing machine might be tough because of the coat getting beat up. If You do it in a large container just make sure you stir it the whole time so you get an even dye job.

Here are the detailed instructions.
