Hi, I was trying to dye some 100% cotton white bandanas using the Jacquard Products peach color. If I want the intended effect to be really  subtle and washed  out (versus very  vibrant), how much dye should I be mixing? I always add a tablespoon of vinegar to each bottle.

Would appreciate any guidance! Thank you.

A general rule I tend to follow is that if you want a pastel shade for a dye, it isn't half the amount of color it starts at 1/10 the amount of color.  So, drastically pull back on the amount.  Sometimes if it is a strong color you need more like 1/20.

Why do you add vinegar to the bottle?  That is likely making your color lighter.  We use soda ash with Procion dyes which is a base, the opposite of acid.  You should only use acid on protein fibers like Wool or silk when using procion.
