Ok so I want to make a graduated color scheme polyester cord, like they do on cotton cords for Macarame jewelry. How would I go about doing this with the packets? It's a 1mm thick twisted cord.

Hi Dayzie,

Probably the best way to go about this is to pre-dissolve the dye, add 1/4 (or less) of the dye to the dye bath, insert the entire cord, bring to a boil, allow to boil for the recommended time. Then pull out one end of the cord to the desired length for your palest section, secure it outside of the pot (being sure to keep it away from the flame) add an other 1/4 of the dye, boil for a bit longer and repeat until you have only the last 1/4 (or desired portion) of the cord remaining in the dye bath.

Having not done this myself the process I'm proposing is theoretical, but should work just fine.

hope this helps
