Have 12 kids coming for party. Shirts will be size 14.
Bought 2 Jacquard Funky kits-- questions: the kit says wet first then tie then ash soak before dying.

Was going to dip shirts in bucket first-- will that make them too wet to tie or too wet to then ash soaK? A better way?

And using this kit> do we need dust mask for the ash?

Not sure 2 buckets -- 2 gallons each--of ash will fit the 12 shirts? Should I buy more ash and do another bucket? Opinion?

Thanks darlene

Hi Darlene,

You will want your shirts wet but not drippy for the folding and tying portion of the project. Wetting the shirts this point simply makes it easier to do the folding and tying.
As for the two buckets/12 shirts question, I believe you should be fine with that once the tees are tied. Please do note, however that the Funky Groovy Tie Dye kit is designed to dye five shirts each. You may want to consider purchasing and extra pound of soda ash (just to be on the safe side) and perhaps another color or two of the Procion MX dye. There are many colors to choose from and one more bottle of dye should add enough to the project that no one will come up short. You can find the color chart here:
