I have a new stove top steamer that I bought as a replacement for my last one but it is having the same issue. When in use the back becomes swelled near the hinge and causes a pressure bubble which makes it almost impossible to open. I either have to bang on the back of it or try to pry it open both of which are potentially dangerous options. Does anyone else have this problem or know of possible solutions? Thanks!

Thank you for the feedback. It is possible that the stove top steamer is getting overheated which would could the metal to buckle. If you turn the heat down once the water has begun to boil-just high enough to generate steam-you might avoid this issue. Give it a try and see if it helps. We'll also do some investigating.
