I'm thinking of trying the new vinyl sulfone dyes. I have a project where I want to needle felt some silk and wool fibers together and then dye (I plan to paint on the dye, not do immersion). I thought that these dyes would be easiest as I wouldn't need to boil water to create a solution prior to mixing up the right dilution of dyes.

But I was wondering if these dyes are going to work as well as I'm hoping given that upon looking at the directions there aren't any chemicals added when dyeing for wool, but it says to add baking soda for silk and cottons.

Should I use the acid dyes instead...are they going to be better for this project?
