I would like to dye 2 pairs of faded black shorts and a few faded black tshirts to hopefully get it back to "new" looking. When I weigh it all together its 6 lbs of clothing dry. I would like to know:
a.) which type of dye is best for dying cotton and
b.) how many oz of jet black dye to use for 6lbs of cotton clothing?

Thanks!

Hi diedye,

Do you want to dye your garments in the washing machine or in a tub?
Probably the easiest way to go is to use our iDye for natural fibers - for 6 pounds of clothes you would need 2 packages and this can be used in your washing machine (if you have a front loader read the instructions carefully). http://jacquardproducts.com/idye.html
However, Procion MX is another option. This, too can be used in your washing machine and for six pounds of clothes you will need about 10 ounces of dye. You will also need soda ash. Full instructions are here: http://jacquardproducts.com/assets/jacquard-site/product-pages/dyes/procion-mx/Procion%20MX%20Instructions.pdf

let me know if you have any other questions
