Hi there,

The trick to dying wool of any sort is the slow raising of temp to the necessary level and GENTLE moving around of the fiber during the dye process. You'll also want to allow the fiber to cool in the bath gradually.
Regarding the vinegar question, because one steams it is not necessary to add the acid to the equation - I don't quite understand the chemistry of it all but I'll bet [url="http://www.pburch.net/index.shtml"]Paula Burch[/url] has a good explanation at her site.
